A Few of Our Favourite Things - Song
As part of our looking at our favourite things for Inquiry, we thought it might be lots of fun to learn a well known tune. Hopefully you will recognise this oldie but a goodie.
A Few of our Favourite Things!
Welcome back to Term 3, we hope you had an exciting as well as restful break and we are looking forward to an interesting term. This week the children have been introduced to the concept that 'People are driven to create, construct and investigate'. All of these things lead to change and our big question is 'does change make things better?' We shared with the children some of our favourite objects and what they were like in the past, we have also considered what they will be like in the future. This week the children have been going to workshops around key skills that they will need in order to investigate their own favourite object in depth. These workshops included identifying keywords, scanning and note taking, summarising and writing simple reports. We would like your child to choose a favourite object for next week (they could either bring the object in with your permission or take a photo of it - we are happy to print any photos emailed to us). During class time we will be looking at the changes it has undertaken as well as asking them what it might be like in the future and to justify their answers. To help them you might like to talk to them about what object they would like to choose - please don't go into too much depth about their object as we will be asking them to use their new skills to research and present their findings during class time.
Thank you for your support!

Weaving Magic!
For art we are weaving and will be creating a piece of collaborative artwork for our fair at the end of the term. Here we are busy weaving our own piece of art that we will be using to construct with later on.
Researchers!
In our literacy workshop today the students were researchers! Scanning and reading non-fiction texts that would help us discover more about the automobile. Where did the idea come from and from who? What were early cars like? We used a list of keywords we had compiled from a text we had read and our own ideas of keywords to look through a range of books to see if they would help us. Today we are going to use a classify map to sort out the information we have found. We will also be thinking of what changes have been made to cars and making some predictions about the future based on what we know. In a different workshop the students were making discoveries about the mobile phone. A key question we are asking the children to think about is: Why do people make changes to things?

Term 3 New Mathematical Learning
Today we have been talking about our new maths topic - Time. We created a SOLO classify to show what we already know about time. We then used sticky notes to create 3 posters - what do we know, what do we think we know, what do we wonder (and therefore want to know more about)? Tomorrow we will be choosing our time workshops. We will let you know what we learn about time.

Syndicate 1 and 2 Assembly
It was fantastic today to have the opportunity to get together and celebrate the learning that has occurred in Term 1 and to be able to share this with our fabulous parents and caregivers. We look forward to having more learning celebrations next term.
Here are a few photos from today's assembly.
Awesome Work
Well done to these people who received certificates at today's assembly for their achievements in using their Lincoln Learner Powers and in the Cross Country.

Year 3 Friday Enrichment
What a fantastic way to spend a Friday afternoon. Some students like the opportunity to be mindful and join the Time Out zone. Others join the Art and Craft zone and get creative using a variety of materials and then we have the STEM zone where the students are able to be creative using their fantastic problem solving skills. We are hoping to introduce the Bug Zone - an outdoor experience for those who enjoy the great outdoors.
